Migraines Care in London
Personalised Chiropractic Care for Migraines in London
Migraine is more than a bad headache. It can bring nausea, sensitivity to light and sound and visual disturbances, and it can last for hours or days.
I’m Dr Ida Norgaard, a chiropractor at Inc-Health in central London. Migraine is a medical condition that your GP should diagnose, but neck tension and posture can be contributing factors, and that is where chiropractic care may help. See also our headache page.

Understanding Migraines
What Can Trigger or Worsen Migraines
Migraine triggers vary from person to person and can include stress, changes in sleep, skipped meals, hormonal changes, certain foods and drinks, bright light and strong smells. Keeping a diary can help you spot your own pattern.
Neck tension and poor posture do not cause migraine, but they can add to headache load and make episodes feel worse. Chiropractic care aims to ease neck and shoulder tension and improve movement, as part of a wider plan agreed with your doctor.
Clear, personalised care for migraines
Every migraine consultation starts with listening, a full history and a careful assessment of your neck, upper back and posture, followed by clear advice on next steps.

When Migraines Needs Urgent Medical Help
Seek emergency medical help if you experience any of the following:
- A sudden, severe headache that peaks within minutes, often described as the worst of your life
- A headache after a blow to the head

- A headache with weakness, slurred speech, facial droop or changes in vision
- A new, persistent headache that starts after the age of 50
How We Help
How Can a Chiropractor Help With Migraines?
I take a detailed history, ask about your triggers and medication, and examine your neck, upper back, jaw and posture. If I find joint stiffness or muscle tension that may be contributing, treatment may include gentle mobilisation or adjustment, soft tissue work and exercises.
I do not claim to cure migraine and I will never ask you to stop prescribed medication. My aim is to reduce the neck and posture factors that you can influence and to give you practical advice on self-care.
Treatment is non-surgical and drug-free, and your response is reviewed as we go. If your symptoms need further investigation, Dr Norgaard will refer you.

Migraines Symptoms
Migraine With Neck Tension and Stiffness
Many people with migraine notice neck stiffness before, during or after an attack. Pain may start in the neck and spread to the head, or you may feel tight shoulders and a sore jaw.
A regular routine for sleep and meals, plenty of water and breaks from screens can help while you are being assessed. If your migraines change, become more frequent, or you experience new symptoms such as weakness or speech changes, seek medical advice. See also neck pain care.
Your Questions Answered
Frequently Asked Questions About Migraines
Can a chiropractor help with migraines?
Chiropractic care may help some people where neck tension or posture is contributing. It is not a cure for migraine and should be used alongside your GP’s advice.
Is migraine the same as a tension headache?
No. Migraine is a neurological condition that often involves one-sided throbbing pain, nausea and sensitivity to light and sound. Tension headaches usually feel like a band of pressure.
Can neck problems trigger migraines?
Neck tension can contribute to head pain and make migraines feel worse in some people, but it is only one of many possible factors.
When should I seek urgent help?
Seek emergency help for a sudden severe headache, headache after a head injury, or headache with fever, stiff neck, confusion, weakness, slurred speech or vision changes.
Should I stop my migraine medication?
No. Never stop prescribed medication without speaking to your doctor. Chiropractic care is offered alongside medical care, not instead of it.
What happens at a first migraines appointment?
Dr Norgaard takes a detailed history, examines you, explains what she finds and discusses a personalised plan that may include hands-on treatment, exercises and advice. The first visit lasts 45 to 60 minutes. See your first visit.
How many sessions will I need for migraines?
This depends on your symptoms, how long you have had them and how you respond to care. Dr Norgaard explains what to expect after your assessment and reviews your progress as you go.
How much does a chiropractor cost in London?
An initial consultation of 45 to 60 minutes costs £160 and follow-up sessions of 20 to 30 minutes cost £90. You receive a receipt after every visit. See our chiropractor prices and book directly, with no GP referral needed.
